Driving a diesel is a different experience and driving style than operating gas-powered vehicles. Power is intended to be predominantly generated by the turbocharger, not simply throttle and rpm, which lowers diesel efficiency and economy while increasing unnecessary strain to the drivetrain.
The Lightning Bolt Solenoid is designed to help you get the most out of your turbo (especially upgraded turbos) and diesel driving experience without artificially manipulating your system to operate more like a gas vehicle. Forcing a diesel to perform more like a gas vehicle is often experienced with products like throttle controllers, modules, or specific tuning that alters VGT vane percentages and/or causes the transmission to regularly downshift raising rpms to achieve power response.
Some of these application combinations may reduce the effective benefits or even conflict with the Lightning Bolt Solenoid operation triggering a CEL.
NOT recommendedwith products like “pedal commanders” or “throttle boosters” that manipulate throttle system percentages that often yield an artificial “in the seat” response feeling while reducing efficiency.
NOT recommended with tuning that restricts VGT vane percentage ranges and/or causes the transmission to downshift when applying throttle for demanded response by increasing engine rpm instead of utilizing low-end boost production from the turbocharger in order to generate power as originally intended for diesels.
TUNING - Some tuning especially with emissions may manipulate the vane position percentage range that can conflict with the Lightning Bolt operation which is intended to operate with full range. This can lead to a CEL and trigger codes such as "over-boost" or "exceeding learn limit".

TYPE-S vs TYPE-R Recommendations:
TYPE-S: Calibrated to retain a stronger resistance rating on the vane system that is ideal for stock applications or with larger upgraded VGT turbos with stock fuel and tuned. Eliminates the laziness of the OEM VGT response and the lag of upgraded turbos. Enhances the low-end torque, boost production and overall performance.
TYPE-R: Calibrated with a lower vane resistance rating than the TYPE-S in order to compensate for increased load produced by performance modified trucks. Ideal with fuel injector size upgrades that have either stock or upgraded turbos. Safely enhances the turbo VGT function on applications with larger fuel injectors and performance modifications. Also ideal for most professional towing/hauling services

I have a KC Whistler with a stroker pump and all the other goodies and have been on the fence about the Lighting bolt ⚡️ Solenoid so black Friday rolls around and I get a good deal on it thru turbo time and I literally let it sit a month before I put it on today and I was thinking yah know maybe a little more pep.. UNREAL.. Completely changed the driving.. This thing will spool to 40 lbs like it's its job.. And I was lucky to see 34-35 before.. and lag gone.. it absolutely rips out the gate and up top.. blown away.. can't wipe the smile off my face.. This item is advertised as it will increase average mileage per gallon among other improvements. I lost two MPG with Lightning Bolt installed and am going back to my previous solenoid on my turbo. I will be seeking to return solenoid and get a refund

I installed the vgt actuator and wow what a difference I noticed on low end toque and boost response I was getting a max 20-22 psi out of the stock turbo before now at the same rpm I’m at 26-29 I have yet to try full throttle yet but I’m sure it be great my fuel mileage has went up as well and I don’t have as much smoke if any when getting off the line

Customer truck said to have a “light switch” effect. Cleaned vanes, installed lightning bolt actuator. I’ve been working on this truck for years so I’m very aware of how it runs and drives. It responds faster, holds boost longer in higher gears in loaded situations. I won’t say it’s a huge upgraded but it definitely makes the turbocharger respond more like the newer vgts.

I just installed the lightning bolt type R on my 2005 powerstoke about a week ago and can already tell a difference in drivability plus picked up about one mile per gallon more in fuel economy. This part is definitely worth the money and very simple to install.
My truck has the Turbo Time gxr 7 turbo with 190/30 injectors and bigger pump plus many other upgrades.
If you are looking for an inexpensive and easy to install upgrade for your diesel that actually makes a difference then this is the part for you.
I have a 2017 Ford F350 6.7L. Stock other than the solenoid. I was making 355 HP and 702.5 torque stock. Put the solenoid on and the HP jumped to 400.7 and torque to 775. Truly impressed with the results. Clearly this product does what they claim it does.

Read about this on Facebook. After doing some more research, I decided to buy it. This is hands down one of the best upgrades I have purchased for my truck. I have a 16 lml. It was relatively easy to install as well. I have a stock turbo and the emissions intact in my truck. I also have a pedal monster, and let me tell you I noticed quite a difference once this was installed. I noticed a huge difference in turbo lag and acceleration. Even with the pedal monster I could still tell a major difference. I also gained 2-3 mpg. I haven’t towed with it yet so can’t speak to the exhaust breaking power. However, I’m sure that there will be a difference. This is an awesome product and I recommend to anyone, especially those with a mostly stock application who are looking for extra power without breaking the bank! Great product Turbo Time!

We used one on a 6.0 Ford and it did exactly everything you guys said it would: The turbo spools better, stays in the power band better, and any surging the truck owner was having is all gone. We will be buying more of these.
Delivering as Advertised
Replacing the Factory VGT actuator on my KC stage one Turbo, with the Lighting Bolt was an immediate improvement over factory. This product actually is probably one of the best simple 6.0 modifications you can do, and actually feel the difference. My truck is a Standard, so I noticed the better turbo response right away when shifting! Awesome Job!

Takes your turbo to BEAST mode
Bought this for my F350 to see what all they hype was about and I am glad I purchased this! My turbo spools up so quick and my boost lag is almost non-existent. My truck has been getting much better fuel mileage which is FANTASTIC with the way fuel prices have been sky rocketing. It has cleaned up the exhaust smoke which helps with the emissions readings. This product has so many benefits it makes me wish I bought it sooner! Bottom line being this product is AMAZING and is a MUST HAVE!
Noticeable Power Difference
Works well noticeable power difference and less smoke output and better fuel mileage and increased boost currently running it on a 06 f250 6.0 with 205/30 injectors and full 4 inch system with ported intake manifold and stealth 67g2 turbo and a few other upgrades

I'm running 175/30 with a kc stage 2.
Turbo spools faster. It cleans up faster. Overall it's good in my book. I've been running the type r for two weeks now. Wanted to give it time before I posted a review. No issues or complaints. Installing was 5 min job.
IT'S A TEN
Product is what they claim it to be- definitely have much more pep in my step now. Super efficient, very minimal response lag. Truck feels like it has no resistance! I went with the Type S because it is more "aggressive" compared to their Type R solenoid. I was looking for a better low end snap out of my truck and I feel I got much more than what I was looking for. I am VERY impressed!
I can for sure see where it will help with egts, cleaner exhaust, fuel mileage and boost efficiency. I do have pre datalogs before I installed it to compare to the after. I will be getting the after data today so stay tuned!

I bought one of these Lightning Bolt Turbo Actuators and all I can say is WOW! The difference was night and day!
I have a stock 06 F250 6.0L (Diesel) and the turbo lag on these trucks is terrible without expensive upgrades (so I thought. Now that this actuator is installed the turbo lag is COMPLETELY gone which is insane AND I gained about 15% boost from the actuator!

I have a 64mm GXR-8 stage 2 turbo from TurboTime USA. I installed this Lightning Bolt solenoid.
Right away I saw a huge difference in black smoke being GONE.
The sound of the turbo whistle was music to my ears!
I averaged 26 mpg driving 40-55 mph.
Coming down hills really holds you back more and less braking.
When climbing hills it felt like it wanted to pull harder and more effortlessly.

WHAT A DIFFERENCE
I installed a TurboCentriX/TurboTime USA Lightning Bolt Actuator in my truck and all I can say is what a difference! I mean the truck really spools up nice and easy, no turbo bark whatsoever, and way less soot on my fusion bumpers.
