Krazyiron goes Non-VGT
-
Krazyiron’s Quest Continues...
-
Feeling confident that he hit the limits of the VGT based Predator GXR-7 turbo on his set up, Chaz Palmer (Krazyiron) set his sights on a large single non-VGT turbo option to pair with his signature 6.0L Powerstroke. With Chaz in mind, engineering at Turbo Time Performance designed a Predator GXR-7 turbo for the BorgWarner s400 series base turbo. To offer wider performance capability, TTP custom designed a billet wheel that could provide quick boost response with capable performance range in a 74mm size 7x7 splitter blade configuration. This turbo is offered with a 87mm turbine and optional A/R housing sizes.

To get this swap over locked down, Chaz worked with one of the best known names for performance piping fabrication
Larry Steele at SoCal Billet Inc. The one stop shop for s300 & s400 Ford Powerstroke kits.
-
For perspective, Chaz stuck with the 205/100 injector size for the initial swap to get some base line performance numbers before considering a larger future set of injectors. To safely support the new power goals, Chuck at
Richardson Performance & Machine built the bottom end. Anxious to see some results, Chaz "sent" the factory heads on this dyno test with future plans for O-ringed race heads from
PSP Powerstroke Products.
DYNO TIME!
Now back at On 3 Dyno & Performance Krazyiron lays down some impressive results. The fuel only run yields 735HP / 1121ftlb. With a shot of nitrous, he tipped the scale at 926HP / 1296ftlb

The factory heads did not survive...
Now fitted with some new powder coat and race heads from PSP, Krazyiron is quite proud of the build and the support it took to get there. Future goals look like a larger set of injectors and fuel support to see what more the Predator GXR-474 turbo is capable of in this rig!

Special thanks from Chaz (Krazyiron) to:
"Larry at socalbilletinc has gone above and beyond to help get the truck where it is today.
Everybody at RG Racing helped in so many ways. From ordering the parts to pulling all nighters to get it done. And keeping it on the road.
Chris over at xdp
Chuck at Richardson Performance and Machines Did all the machine work for the new engine build
Ray at J&J Powder coating did all the powder coat. And of course. We wouldn’t have made it this far without you guys at TTP
Eric at Mcmichael Diesel Performance is tuning the truck. He's been working very closely with me to dial it in."
