WHY LIGHTNING BOLT SOLENOID?​


VGT (variable geometry turbine) turbo technology has greatly improved diesel efficiency over the years.

However, it can and should still be improving without sacrificing performance and the joy of driving. Introducing a patented project by TTP Performance.

With efficiency and performance at the forefront, research and development set out to re-design and re-engineer the basic VGT solenoid found in the Garrett/Fomoco turbochargers commonly used in Ford Powerstroke and GM Duramax trucks.

 
Welcome the Lightning Bolt VGT Solenoid. This new and innovative design installs as simply as the OEM solenoid, yet looks and performs dramatically different. Newly designed and machined components make up the internal structure along with a finned outer casing with a cooling benefit. The completely new structure and design enhances the solenoid function to dramatically increase VGT response and strength. This results in quicker spool, boost increases of 5-12%, retains longer boost range, faster exhaust brake reaction, improved MPG, and cleaner exhaust. No other parts or modifications required.
 

The Lightning Bolt Solenoid has been in testing for over one year on multiple turbo platforms and is now finally ready to make its debut on the diesel market.

It can be utilized in both stock OEM or performance upgraded VGT turbochargers. Trusted select diesel performance shops are already using them in their everyday trucks and will soon be ready to install them for their customers as well.
 

TYPE-S vs TYPE-R Recommendations:

TYPE-S: Calibrated to retain a stronger resistance rating on the vane system that is ideal for stock applications or with larger upgraded VGT turbos with stock fuel and tuned. Eliminates the laziness of the OEM VGT response and the lag of upgraded turbos. Enhances the low-end torque, boost production and overall performance.

TYPE-R: Calibrated with a lower vane resistance rating than the TYPE-S in order to compensate for increased load produced by performance modified trucks. Ideal with fuel injector upgrades that have either stock or upgraded turbos. Safely enhances the turbo VGT function on applications with larger fuel injectors and performance modifications. Also ideal for most professional towing/hauling services.

*Some recommendations vary based on vehicle applications. It is possible to use either model on varying applications. However, conservative pre-selected recommendations are noted in the chart.

WHICH TURBOS IS IT COMPATIBLE WITH?


Garrett/Fomoco turbos that already utilize a solenoid controlled VGT system.

CAN I USE IT WITH A STOCK TURBO?


Yes. Our Type-S model is optimal for stock turbos.
The Type-R model is rated for systems with upgraded fuel and performance turbos.

CAN I USE IT IF I HAVE TUNING UPGRADE?


Yes. The solenoid does not affect tuning.

DOES IT INCREASE EMISSIONS?
